Distillery District

The City of Toronto has begun to explore the east side and has given us  an incredible historical site that has been converted into condos and lofts. The Distillery District which was once known as the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, has become ”the spot” to live to the east. With old meeting new,  the Distillery District was officially opened to the public in 2001 and is now dedicated to culture, entertainment and arts. The Distillery district is now known for amazing galleries, artist studios, cafes, restaurants and festivals and events. This area is perfect for those looking for a unique spot with all the bells and whistles.

Top Spots To Check Out

1. Our favourite spot by far? SOMA Chocolates. If chocolate is a weakness for you, we strongly advise you stay away- far away! The minute you walk in you are surrounded by the aroma of chocolate. You can even watch as they make their decadent treats. Buy a treat for a friend, or better yet, buy a lot for yourself!

2. Lileo, located close to the entrance of The Distillery District is home to some of the most up to date fashions. From Rock & Republic jeans to the newest Nike trainers, there is nothing that Lileo doesn’t have. Make sure you only bring one credit card- this place is truly dangerous for those sticking to a budget!

3. The Boiler House is a trendy restaurant offering a wide range of food and of course wine. There is no shortage of the good stuff! Live jazz bands fill the unique space on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights- making The Boiler House a popular spot.

4. There is no shortage of art galleries in The Distillery District. It’s the perfect spot to spend the afternoon strolling through them From ArtaThe Blue Dot and Engine Gallery, there is an art fix for everyone!

5. Grab a cold one at The Mill Street Brewery. Take some home for yourself or enjoy one of their 13 beers on tap! A perfect way to end a hot summer’s day.
